“Nine” Film To Be Delayed
The film adaptation of “Nine,” the Broadway musical based on Federico Fellini’s “8 1/2,” has become another casualty of the writers’ strike. Production on the film, directed by Rob Marshall, was set to begin in March, but will now be delayed until the second half of next year.
Anthony Minghella signed on two days before the strike began to polish the original Michael Tolkin script. Now, of course he won’t be able to.
The film’s cast includes Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Sophia Loren, and Marion Cotillard. It’s unknown if this schedule shift will require any of the roles to be recast.
