At Least It´s Not “Elizabeth”!

Further evidence of the dumbing-down of the Academy Awards: the Weinstein Co., which distributes the Dylan movie “I´m Not There,” is sending out a Cate Blanchett/I’m Not There highlight reel DVD. This footage will also be going up on YouTube. And what´s the strategy here? The Weinstein folks are worried that the Oscar-nominated Blanchett´s character does not make her appearance until so late in the movie that voters will eject the complete-version “I´m Not There” DVD well before they reach that point. I realize that some Academy members have been voting for years without watching the nominated movies, but the highlights video takes the cynicism of the game to a new low.
