As has already been announced, the Sam Mendes-directed production of “The Cherry Orchard” will come to the Brooklyn Academy of Music in January, as part of a partnership between BAM and Kevin Spacey‘s Old Vic Theatre in London. Also announced: a cast led by Simon Russell Beale, Sinead Cusack, and Rebecca Hall, all using a translation by Tom Stoppard. Here’s what hasn’t been reported: the cast will probably also include Richard Easton and Ethan Hawke (pictured), who played father and son in “The Coast of Utopia” last year at Lincoln Center Theater. The production, which will run in tandem with “A Winter’s Tale,” will begin at BAM, play international engagements, and then settle down at the Old Vic next summer.
