Annals of Cynicism: Gov. Charlie Crist
I usually keep politics off of lemonwade, but I couldn’t resist noting this story about Florida’s Republican governor, Charlie Crist (pictured). As political junkies know, Crist is supposedly on the short list of John McCain for the vice-president spot. Well, guess what? Just in time to “burnish” his credentials, Crist has announced his engagement. This, apparently, is the greatest flip-flop of 2008. Why? Because the owner of a gay bar that Crist used to frequent in the 1990s says there is absolutely no question that Crist is gay. When I stop rolling my eyes about this story, I’ll try to remind myself that even Oscar Wilde was married to a woman.
