Nothing New Under The Sun

Monty Python’s famous “Dead Parrot” sketch (video is here) turns out to be 1,600 years old. An ancestor of the bit has been found in a joke book dating back to Greece in the 4th century A.D. John Cleese, who starred in the routine, is said to be so distraught at the news that he refuses to appear in public. (Except for last night’s 60th-birthday tribute to Prince Charles).
