Wall-E Wins L.A. Critics Award
I’m not surprised that “Wall-E” was named Best Picture of the Year by the L.A. Film Critics today. (I’m expecting the New York Times’s A.O. Scott to make it his top flick of 2008, too.) I don’t think the LA crits’ selection of Sally Hawkins of “Happy-Go-Lucky” means she’ll get an Oscar nom. I’m thrilled that Sean Penn won Best Actor for “Milk.” I’m getting tired of Penelope Cruz winning Best Supporting Actress kudos for her ridiculous, Charro-like perf in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” (I much prefer the L.A. crits’ runner-up, Viola Davis, in “Doubt.”)
