Is Meryl Still Oscar’s Frontrunner?

merylstreepdoubt_l2All the talk this week in the Best Actress race has been about Kate Winslet. But EW’s Dave Karger makes the case that Streep is still the most likely to emerge victorious on February 22. Looking ahead to next Thursday’s announcement of nominations, Karger writes: “I’m convinced that overall Academy support for the eventual winner’s film will be the deciding factor in which actress goes home with the trophy.” And since Streep’s movie, “Doubt,” will almost certainly get more noms than the movies of Winslet or Anne Hathaway, that would mean Miss Meryl would win her first Oscar in 26 years.
