Love and Death In “Terre Haute”

“Terre Haute,” a new play by Edmund White, is definitely not a bomb, despite having Oklahoma City terrorist Timothy McVeigh as one of its two characters. (Gore Vidal is the other.) It has just had its American premiere, in New York. This reviewer is impressed — except for the drama’s too-erotic ending, which also got Vidal worked up when the play had its premiere in the U.K.
