Malick’s Latest Poetic Opus
Terrence Malick is a movie director with mystique, and his “Days of Heaven” is as otherworldly beautiful a movie as exists in American cinema. Still, I get nervous when I read the description of Sean Penn’s character in Malick’s “The Tree of Life,” which is currently shooting: “A lost soul in a modern world.” Let’s hope that Penn’s costars — Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain, who are pictured — are a little more down-to-earth.
