“Lend Me A Tenor” B’way-Bound?

lendmeatenor1“Lend Me A Tenor,” a farce about celebrated fictional tenor Tito Merelli (“Il Stupendo“) by Ken Ludwig, was a hit on Broadway in 1989; the cast included Philip Bosco and Victor Garber. Now, there are some serious plans afoot to revive the play on Broadway. A reading of it has just been held in New York, with a cast to salivate over: Alfred Molina, Tony Shalhoub, T. R. Knight, Jan Maxwell, and Marian Seldes. Stanley Tucci directed the reading, which has been getting good buzz around the Rialto. Will we see this production next season?

  1. i’ve seen both the ‘straight’ play and the re-written musical version when it was produced by the utah shakespearean festival.
both versions are well worth a ticket price, and the re-mount would be a hoot to watch.
