Wilson Center Set For Pittsburgh

mellon_wilson01_5001A decade ago, at a cafe in downtown Pittsburgh, I had a marathon interview/bull session with the late playwright August Wilson. We covered so many topics — the Pittsburgh Pirates, how to blow glass, the ingredients in single-malt Scotch, the Bible, the Koran — that my head is still spinning. This Saturday, a few blocks from where Wilson and I drank all that coffee, there will be a preview of the new August Wilson Center for African American Culture (pictured). The official opening isn’t until September 19, but the center wanted to give folks a sneak peek. More info here.
