“News” About “Little Night Music”

sondheim_190I’m a broken record this week: another story being reported in the “mainstream” media that I told you about weeks ago. The latest one: LemonWade told you in April that the upcoming Broadway revival of “A Little Night Music,” by Stephen Sondheim (pictured) and Hugh Wheeler, was going to play a Jujamcyn Theatre. Today, the New York Times theatre writer, Patrick Healy, finally caught up to that news. Of the two Jujamcyn houses that might be available, I fear the Sondheim show will move into the much-too-cavernous St. James, recent home of “Gypsy.” I’d prefer the Walter Kerr, whose intimacy befits the delicate pleasures of “Night Music.”
