Word Is Good On “Catch Me”

catchmeifyoucanThe new musical “Catch Me If You Can,” based on the Spielberg movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, is in previews in Seattle. LemonWade’s spies report that the show is shaping up as a solid hit when it transfers to Broadway this season. The complaints are the usual ones: the production is running too long. In other words, there are just too many wonderful Scott Wittman/Marc Shaiman songs. (Their “Hairspray” had the same problem early on.) I’m sure that director Jack O’Brien will cut what needs to be cut. Can’t wait to see this one.
