Kennedy Honors: Grace Bumbry!
The Kennedy Center honorees, who will get their medals on December 5, were announced today. Most of the attention will be focused on Bruce Springsteen and Robert DeNiro, with some shout-outs going as well to Dave Brubeck and Mel Brooks. But I’d like to shower some attention on the fifth honoree, opera singer Grace Bumbry, the first female opera singer to get the Kennedy Center honors since Jessye Norman in 1997. The video here shows Bumbry in “Carmen.” She was real great.
