The Incredible Whiteness Of VFair

cover-girls-1003-02Vanity Fair’s new Hollywood issue cover features nine young actresses, half of whom you’ve probably never heard of. Considering how sorted the performers are by hair color (each grouping has a balance of blonde and brunette), it’s a little disconcerting how little attention was paid to skin color. It’s 2010 in Hollywood, and V Fair still couldn’t find a non-white actress worthy of putting on this cover? The image looks like a sorority shot, circa 1962. They couldn’t find room for the star of the year’s biggest movie: the gorgeous Zoe Saldana? Or do something unexpected by including an actual Oscar nominee: the refreshing Gabby Sidibe?
