Huh? Scorsese Doing Fran Lebowitz
I thought that Martin Scorsese had slipped a bit by making a populist piece of cheese like “Shutter Island,” but it’s a hit so good for him. But now I come across another sign that the director is losing it: in this interview he let’s drop that he’s making a documentary about Fran Lebowitz (pictured). Lebowitz published a couple of mildly amusing books back in the Stone Age but hasn’t published a lick of work for adults since. She’s spent her life, as Susan Sontag once put it, as “a rich man’s boor.” Scorsese needs an overhaul for his taste meter.
