Two New Novels: Two Winners

I read two new novels over the weekend, both very worthwhile. “The Imperfectionists,” by Tom Rachman, is the story of an English-language newspaper in Rome; “The Slap,” by Christos Tsiolkas, tells what happens after a man slaps someone else’s child at a suburban barbeque. I can imagine both as movies; does Scott Rudin have the rights yet?
