New “Sherlock”: Too Clever By Half

The “Sherlock” three-parter that started last night on PBS brought to American audiences a little of the “Doctor Who” cleverness that Brits have loved for quite a while now. While I was able to watch all the Holmes-and-Watson re-do, and found it more digestible than the ridiculously overwrought recent movie remake with Robert Downey, Jr., and Jude Law, I did get a little tired of Benedict Cumberbatch’s smart-assiness and the ripped-off-from-CSI forensic-effects editing.
