Jane Russell Dies At 89

Whenever I think of Jane Russell, who has died at 89, I of course think of the movie “Outlaw,” which caused controversy because of the cleavage she showed. And I think of how much more I liked her in 1953’s “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” than I did her costar, Marilyn Monroe. But mostly I think of how Russell was described by the singular movie critic, Boyd McDonald. Miss Russell, Boyd said, was “stuff.”
