Elaine May: Ageless In Photos

I regard Elaine May as one of the funniest women alive — a true Living National Treasure. I had to chuckle, however, when I saw the photo shown here of her on the 92nd Street Y website in New York, to promote an upcoming screening of her flick “Ishtar,” called a famous flop but the subject of some critical revisionism lately (and about to be released on DVD). Miss May just turned 79. But that photo has got to be at least 20 years old — it’s the kind of prime-of-life image used in obituaries. And she ain’t dead yet, thank God! 1. I’m so glad that we both adore Elaine May! I grew up listening to those Nichols and May albums to the point of memorization. I never saw ISHTAR, but I certainly will.
