Turner Prize Shortlist Announced
The shortlist for this year’s Turner Prize in contemporary art has been announced. The prize is a big deal in Britain — tabloids love to wax Philistine about the entries, and this year they are focusing on finalist Karla Black and her pink, plastic work “What To Ask For Others.” Not many Americans are familiar with the Turner; when sport was made of it during a performance I attended recently of the Tony-nommed play “Jerusalem,” no one laughed.
