Doris Day To Release New CD

In case you didn’t know, on September 5 Sony Music will release Doris Day’s first new album in nearly two decades. “My Heart” is a compilation of previously unreleased recordings produced by Miss Day’s son, Terry Melcher, prior to his death in 2004. Tracks include “You Are so Beautiful (To Me),” the ’70s Joe Cocker hit, and classics such as “My Buddy,” which Miss Day originally sang in her 1951 film “I’ll See You in My Dreams.” Day dedicates the song to her late son. “I was asked to choose the songs I preferred for the album,” Miss Day said from her Carmel Valley, Calif., home recently. “These are the tunes that reflect my love of animals, my love for my son. They’re the dearest things to My Heart.” Miss Day chose to include “Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries” on the album because it was Mr. Melcher’s favorite of her recordings. “And it rings so true,” Miss Day added. You can pre-order the CD here. By the way, when was the CD cover photo taken? Miss Day is 88, and although one hears she still looks good, I’m sure she doesn’t look that young. Even with the age-erasing powers of Photoshop.
