McQueen Show Draws Thousands

On the last day of “Savage Beauty,” the Metropolitan Museum’s show devoted to the designs of the late Alexander McQueen, crowds snaked down the block in the rain to catch a final glimpse. The exhibition was one of the 10 most visited shows in the museum’s history. Even accounting for the fact that Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was from the label Alexander McQueen (but not designed by him) and the tragic nature of McQueen’s death last year (a suicide), the attendance numbers are staggering. Meanwhile, if you want to see Kate’s dress, you’ll have to traipse to Buckingham Palace in London, which is open to the public while the Queen is in Scotland. Her Majesty, by the way, pronounced the display in which the bridal outfit is housed as “horrid” and “horrible.” Not amused, was she?
