Ryan Murphy, he of “Glee” fame,” has confirmed that Mark Ruffalo will play the lead in the upcoming “The Normal Heart” movie. In a new interview, Murphy suggests again that Julia Roberts — upon whom he has lavished attention since directing her in “Eat Pray Love” — is a possibility to play the role of the wheelchair-bound Dr. Emma Brookner, a part for which Ellen Barkin just won a Tony in the Broadway revival. That stage production is aiming to play London and do a national tour, but it’s going to take a lot of schedule coordination for Joe Mantello, who did the lead in NY, and John Benjamin Hickey, who won a Tony for his performance, and Barkin to repeat their work in this Larry Kramer play. They are all extremely talented but extremely busy people.
