Why I’m Dreading 9/11 Anniversary

I don’t know about you, but I’m dreading the non-stop 9/11 anniversary coverage planned by the media as well as by so many artists and creative folk in the city where I live: New York. I watched the towers collapse, I was around for all of the horrible immediate aftermath to the tragedy, and I wish we could just have a nationwide minute of silence on the morning of the anniversary. That would be eloquent. But this is America, so the 9/11 anniversary, like everything else, has to be super-sized.

  1. Boy, as usual, am I with you, Brendan! This was one of the most grotesque events in American history, and “commemorating” it is, to me, even more grotesque. Will someone please explain “closure” to me?? While we’re at it, why don’t we exhume the bodies of those whose bodies were found at the site and have a good look at them, to achieve “closure”?
