“Moneyball”: What I Thought

I finally saw “Moneyball” yesterday. It’s a very solid piece of work. Brad Pitt, as the General Manager for the Oakland As, is every inch a movie star, though I felt that this wasn’t one of his strongest performances. It was too subtle by half. I expected the dialogue to have more crackle, but the pleasures were very scattered. I kept feeling as if I were watching an HBO movie: quality oozing out of every pore, and integrity, but somehow only halfway satisfying.
