Stoopid: Bill O’Reilly Book Banned
For once, I find myself defending blowhard Bill O’Reilly. Ford’s Theatre in Washington — you know, the place where Lincoln was shot — has banned the sale of Bill-O’s new book, “Killing Lincoln,” from its bookstore. Undoubtedly, the book is riddled with inaccuracies: O’Reilly is a propagandist not a historian. But if bookstores, large or small, were to start banning books on the grounds of error, there’d be nothing left to buy your literary friends for Christmas. Every day, I find numerous factual errors in the New York Times — most of which go uncorrected in subsequent editions. Should we boycott the paper of record over this? I think not. An educated person always considers the source of his/her information, and makes judgments accordingly.
