Gender Inequity In Hollywood? Duh!

Analyzing the top 100 films of 2009, USC’s Annenberg School found that only 32.8 percent of speaking characters were female and a small minority of the films had female directors, even though women bought a majority of movie tickets that year. The best feminist film test ever devised: does a movie have at least one scene where two women are talking to each other without men around? You’d be amazed at how much Hollywood product can’t meet that simple requirement.
