“Twilight: The Musical” Happening

I was really hoping that the one form into which “Twilight” would not morph was the musical stage, but the Powers of the Night are not listening to me: the phenomenon will premiere its musical fangs in New York on January 16th for a one-night-only staged reading. The musical originally premiered and was workshopped last year in New York. (From which the above video is taken.) With opening lyrics like “Nothing ever happens in Forks” and (of course) “I wish I had a boyfriend,” the show seems to be in the same vein as “A Very Potter Musical” in that it’s a fun-loving parody by people who clearly enjoyed the source material. For the record, shows involving vampires have a generally terrible record on Broadway.
