Whitney: Enough With The Pity!

I started reading tough stuff about Whitney Houston from almost the moment her death was announced, so I certainly don’t think it’s inappropriate to wonder at this point: did she get the death, and the life, she deserved? Nobody put a gun to her head and forced her to marry Bobby Brown. Nobody put a gun to her head and told her to take all those drugs. Nobody put a gun to her head and forced her to live a lifestyle that took a toll on her magnificent gift, her singing voice. I realize that genetics and biochemistry played a significant part in her drug use, but I don’t think it’s fair to let Whitney off the hook of responsibility because of them. Compared to most folks, she had a pretty spectacular life, including its huge highs and downs. Enough with all the pity and the insistence that she died oh so tragically. It may serve her legend, but it doesn’t serve her memory.

  1. It’s a good thing that Shakira wasn’t killed by that sea lion. I don’t think Western Civilization could have survived the death of both Whitney and Shakira in one week!

  2. she had a pretty spectacular (stylish) life

please never use the made up word lifestyle again on LW:
forced her to live a lifestyle

    leave it to the madmen

Pour moi, I’ve had an occasionally stylish life.
    Certainly not a lifestyle.
