Meryl’s Gift To Viola: Consolation Prize?

I will say it till I’m blue in the face, even when I don’t care for a particular performance of hers: Meryl Streep is a class act. She proved it again this week, by paying tribute to Viola Davis: contributing $20,000 to two Rhode Island charities connected to “The Help” star. The donations came after Streep bested Davis in the race for the Academy Award for Best Actress. (Did you think my headline on this item was too cynical?
