Ronnie Montrose & The Death Of Rock

We live in an age when pop music, at least on the charts, has virtually no place for hard-core rock ‘n’ roll. And yet when a rocker dies the amount of nostalgia — not just for him or her but for the genre itself — is intense. So it is with the exit of guitarist Ronnie Montrose, who has died at age 64. Besides forming his own band in 1973, Montrose also performed with a number of rockers, including Sammy Hagar, Herbie Hancock, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs and the Edgar Winter Group.
