Setting Sail For The Marina Show

As far as I know, there are no plans for an American presentation of the full-scale version of “The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic,” created by Robert Wilson. That’s a shame. The show features scenes from Abramović’s life and career, from her Serbian childhood to her work as a performance artist. With original and traditional music, including songs written and performed by the incomparable Antony (Antony & The Johnsons), this production brings together the worlds of theatre, art and music. At least we’ll be able to see the acclaimed documentary “Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present.” Co-directed by Matthew Akers and Jeff Dupre, it is set to air on HBO on July 2. The cable premiere will be preceded by a theatrical engagement in New York and L.A., set for some time in June.
