Rumor Mill: What’s Next For Kelli O’Hara?

At the end of his Post column today, Michael Riedel floats the rumor that Kelli O’Hara will star in a revival of “The King and I” next season at Lincoln Center Theater’s Beaumont stage. (He also writes about the possible transfer of “War Horse” from LCT to a Broadway theater on Times Square.) Riedel leaves unaddressed this possibility: O’Hara is about to open in “Nice Work If You Can Get It” on Broadway. What happens if that is a hit? O’Hara doesn’t have an indefinite contract, but still: that’s an issue Riedel should have sounded. What’s more, Bartlett Sher, the likely director for the “King,” is directing “Golden Boy” in the fall. Bottom line: Riedel is wrong about “War Horse” moving to Broadway in the fall. “King” won’t be ready by then, and the Beaumont isn’t going to stand empty for several months.
