At least that was the case at yesterday, as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS presented the 26th Annual Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction. Items up for grabs at the 2012 event included walk-on appearances in “Newsies” and shirts worn by Hugh Jackman and Ricky Martin. But the biggest auction items were tickets to the premiere of the upcoming “Les Miz” movie and a VIP package to Barbra Streisand‘s upcoming concert in Brooklyn. They combined to raise $40,000. By contrast, lunch with poor Angela Lansbury fetched only $8,000. I must cry foul. I can listen to Streisand recordings at home, in the early days, when she’s probably in better voice than she’ll be in Brooklyn. I can’t stay home and share a meal with Miss Lansbury.
