Threats Over Nude Last Supper Parody

Brisbane Festival audiences in Australia were screened with metal detectors this week after threats were made against a New York burlesque duo. Organizers of the Brisbane Festival confirmed extra security measures were put in place for the performance by the Wau Wau Sisters, after threats were made against the acrobatic performers. Authorities have refused to reveal the nature of the threats, although it has been reported extreme Christian groups were behind them. The women’s act includes a simulated nailing to the cross during a parody of the Last Supper. No violence has occurred: while Christians throughout history have plenty of blood on their hands, in our age they tend not to riot when their religion is insulted.
