What’s Your Least Favorite Album Cover?

The Guardian wonders: The album cover is an increasingly underappreciated art form. The days of the double gatefold epic artwork you could hold in your hand, cherish or even deface if the fancy took you are more or less gone. However, with new technologies come new opportunities. Take Death Grips, for example. As well as leaking their own album, No Love Deep Web, this week, the Sacramento rap trio ornamented their latest release with a picture of an erect penis, the album title written on it in black marker pen. See here if you must – NSFW, obviously.

As album covers go, it’s certainly not trying to appeal to everybody – and it got us wondering: what other album covers have been shocking, wilfully controversial, offensive, unappealing, or just plain bad?

When we posed the question on Twitter, suggestions included Lovesexy by Prince, Bob Dylan’s Self Portrait, and even Andy Warhol’s much-admired sleeve for The Velvet Underground and Nico.
