Television: Sunday Night Scorecard

Call the Midwife: Vanessa Redgrave’s voice-over narration strikes the perfect tone. Meanwhile, romance is in the air for the nurse-midwives, a little cloyingly. Grade: A-. The Good Wife: Kalinda is still with the violent creep but is also back to sleeping with women — or is she? Good to see John Benjamin Hickey and Virginia Kull guest-starring. Grade: B+. Revenge: My sweet little Declan is acting up again. And Nolan wonders: “Why does this keep happening to me?” Because you’re friends with Emily, dope! Dialogue is slipping on this show. Grade: B. Homeland: Am I the only one who thinks this show is moving a little too fast this season? Grade: B. Upstairs Downstairs: Pretty enjoyable: Ole Joe Kennedy (then the Ambassador to St. James’s) and his wife and son Jack come to call. Not bad, though the Boston-Irish accents were pretty laughable. Is there too much run-up to the war this season? Grade: B+. Boardwalk Empire: Bobby Cannavale having an orgasm during an autoerotic act had to be the boldest moment of this particular Sunday night. Grade: A-.
