Television: Sunday-Night Scorecard

Call the Midwife: Suicide was the big event on the episode, and yummy Chummy is thinking of becoming a nun. Grade: A-. The Good Wife: I keep waiting for Kalinda’s love life to recede: it’s such a bummer! The main case in the episode — a legit businessman with a drug sideline — was compelling. Grade: B+. Upstairs Downstairs: I’m still watching, but even with this episode’s boxing scenes the program is a little too much like a Ralph Lauren campaign — and Ralph Lauren, as it happens, is this “non-commercial” show’s sponsor. Grade: B-. Homeland: I imagine the show isn’t going to settle down into a straightforward triple-agent arrangement now — Brody spent too long on the other side to not be tempted at least once more — but I don’t think it’s possible to read tonight’s conversion as anything but genuine. Still, I’m starting to lose interest in the overall plotting. Grade: B-.
