Jen Love Hewitt To Produce Austen Update
Lifetime is teaming with Jennifer Love Hewitt to develop “Darcy’s Town,” a modern retelling of Jane Austen’s literary classic “Pride and Prejudice” set in a small Virginia town. It’s easy to be snarky about this project: JLH has starred in several movies and TV broadcasts that define the word “cheesy.” She currently headlines Lifetime’s “The Client List,” where she plays a “massage therapist.” She once tried to portray Audrey Hepburn. However: “Clueless” was an updating of Austen’s “Emma,” and it was terrific. So let’s not pass judgement quite yet. Oh, and JLH isn’t starring in “Darcy’s Town.” She’s a little long in the Regency tooth to play a 20-year-old.
