Your Weekend: LemonWade Recommends

Movies: I’ll watch any flick with Jeffrey Wright, so I’m in for “Broken City.” But the best-reviewed new release is the horrorfest “Mama,” starring “Zero Dark Thirty”‘s Jessica Chastain. Television: My friend Bart Sher’s production of Donizetti’s opera “L’Elisir d’Amore” is airing Friday night on PBS. On Sunday, football displaces “The Good Wife,” so maybe all you quality-TV queens should check out an episode of “Honey Boo Boo.” Music: Both Bowie and Justin have just released new singles: hooray! Books: It’s heartening that a fine collection of stories like George Saunders’ “Tenth of December” is a best-seller. Meanwhile, members of the Red Sox Empire have made Terry Francona’s memoir successful. Sports: I love it when the Patriots blow a Super Bowl, so I think I’m going to root for them over the Ravens in this week’s NFL playoffs. Knicks are down, Nets are up: NYC’s best new rivalry lives! Finally: The only advantage to having flu: catching up with a season’s worth of that TV series your friends have been yakking about for years. “Mad Men,” anyone?
