Oscar Luncheon: Who Got Most Applause?

We have entered the silly season in the Oscar campaign, when such things as applause are interpreted by Oscarologists. Example: yesterday the Oscar-nominee lunch was held in Los Angeles. 163 of the chosen showed up. Apparently, the most applause was received by the little Wallis girl from “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” but that doesn’t mean she will win Best Actress. The second-most applause went to Steven Spielberg, so maybe he’s starting to get some of the sympathy vote that’s been going to Ben Affleck. All the nominees from “Lincoln” were warmly greeted, so anyone who says “Argo” has best picture in the bag might want to take a step back.
