Sigur Rós Announce New CD “Kveikur,” Share New Video for “Brennisteinn”, Extend Tour

Seems like just yesterday they still had a cozy indie vibe and were playing venues where you didn’t have to watch the video screen. No more, I guess: the Icelandic group will follow up last year’s “Valtari” with a new record this year. They’re now signed to XL Recordings worldwide, who will release “Kveikur” on June 17 internationally and June 18 in the U.S. As mentioned in January, the band says their new material is “more aggressive.” The band is now a three-piece, following the departure of multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson. Check out a new song, “Brennisteinn”, in the video above, directed by Andrew Huang. (“Brennisteinn” has been played live by the band on tour.) Sigur Rós play their biggest U.S. show to date at Madison Square Garden on Monday and will also appear on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” tonight (March 22), playing a new song.
