Your Weekend: LemonWade Recommends

Movies: I usually like Tom Cruise in sci-fi (“Minority Report”), so “Oblivion” could have something. I’ll see anything with Kristin Scott Thomas speaking French: “In the House.” Television: “Smash” has sunk so low that each time I watch it I feel as if it’s a private screening. TCM is running one of my favorite David Niven movies late on Friday. Music: Don’t know why, but I’m always amazed by the popularity of electronic duo Daft Punk, whose upcoming CD dislodged Michael Buble from atop the Amazon chart. Books: Now that Adam Johnson’s novel “The Orphan Master’s Son” has won the Pulitzer, maybe it’s time to read it. Sports: The Knicks have been losing a bit this week: resting up for the playoffs? Finally: When Congress can’t pass a measure — gun-background checks — supported by a huge majority of the American people, our political system is failing big-time.
