Liza Coming Back To Broadway
I must have been out-of-town when my pal Michael Musto reported that the Liza Minnelli-Alan Cumming on-stage lovefest is coming to Broadway’s Marquis Theatre for a holiday run in December. The last time Liza appeared on Broadway, at the historically more appropriate Palace, her voice was in tatters and she didn’t dance so much as she was lifted around the stage by chorus boys. But hey, she has her devoted fans and they will be more than enough to sell out two weeks in December. After that, Cumming will be going back to Studio 54 to flash his pubic herr in “Cabaret.” Musto comments: ‘Since the production is still looking for a Sally Bowles, maybe we can suspend a tiny bit of disbelief and have Liza play that role again? I’d certainly pay, and so would everyone I’ve ever met. Hello? She already knows the part!’
