Emmy Awards: What I Thought

As I’ve said before, I don’t much care for the Emmys. But I do usually watch them. Not this year. Last night, I watched some PBS, and most of the Bears-Steelers game. By the time I switched over to the Emmys, Michael Douglas had predictably won an award for “Behind the Candelabra” (which took eleven Emmys: sheesh) and was making a pretty witty acceptance speech. He told Matt Damon, his costar, that he was splitting the statue with him, one getting the bottom and one the top and he was pretty sure Matt would want the top tee hee. “Modern Family” won Best Comedy (you thought the old voters would go for “Girls”?) and “Breaking Bad,” which we’re continually told it’s the Greatest Thing Evah, won drama.
