“Filth”: Why No U.S. Release Date?

“Filth,” a good movie about a bad cop played by James McAvoy, looks like wonderfully irreverent fun. McAvoy plays a gleeful, lurid, thoroughly corrupt policeman in Edinburgh. The movie comes out tomorrow in Britain. So why hasn’t Lionsgate, its distributor, set an American release date? The U.S. is awash is porn, so I hardly think a few scenes of drug-filled rumpy-pumpy are going to scare the horses — or the humans who own them.
