Your Weekend: A Selective Guide

Movies: “The Counselor” is worth seeing, if only for Javier Bardem’s hairdo. “Blue Is The Warmest Color” has the arthouse buzz, and it’s three hours long. Television: “A Raisin in the Sun Revisited” is on Friday night on PBS. Last week’s premiere of the Saturday series “Dancing on the Edge” didn’t sizzle, but I will still tune in for part 2. Music: The best Christmas CD this year is not Josh Groban or Barbra Streisand; it’s “Under the Influence” by a cappella group Straight No Chaser. For me, the Christmas hater, however, “Under the Influence” will always mean this. Books: I think I’m going to break down and read Donna Tartt’s new novel, “The Goldfinch.” Her debut, “The Secret History,” is one of the few books on my shelf that I’m never tempted to throw out. Sports: How ’bout those Cardinals? Finally: So many people tell me they’re jealous that I’m watching the new season of “Downton Abbey.” My advice: ask the nearest tech-y teenager to “borrow” it for you.
