“Machinal”: My FT Review

Sophie Treadwell’s 1928 play, “Machinal,” has opened on Broadway in a revival from the Roundabout and starring Rebecca Hall and Morgan Spector (pictured). Here’s my FT review. Bottom line: ‘While “Machinal” retains sufficient interest to require no gender-based apologies, its blunt dramaturgy and psychological lapses make it hard to love, even as many aspects of the Roundabout Theatre’s new staging…are first-rate.’
