“Bullets Over Broadway”: A Russian Musical

I didn’t think that “Bullets Over Broadway,” the musical version of Woody Allen‘s highly entertaining 1994 movie, was opening until April. But apparently a musical version has already opened in Samara, Russia, a city best known for its giant sinkholes. I have no idea whether Mr. Allen approved this version, and I doubt that the filmmaker, famously angst-ridden, would be willing to travel to a sinkhole-ridden city to see if he could pick up a few ideas for the Broadway version. One thing I hope Allen and his director, Susan Stroman, don’t borrow from Samara: the curtain call, which, as you will see from the video above, lasts four-and-a-half minutes.
